Last weekend was something special for the fitness world and for us at OM Events. We got to be part of India’s first StairOthon, a stair-climbing marathon that turned the idea of a “race” on its head. StairOthon, took place in Chennai on August 17, 2025, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Participants could choose to climb 500, 250, or 1750 stairs, with the event designed to test stamina and strength.
Not Your Usual Run
Forget long stretches of flat road. StairOthon was all about climbing thousands of steps inside Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Chennai’s iconic stadiums and towering high-rises. People of different age group pushing upward, hearts pounding, legs burning, spirits high. The marathon offered a unique fitness challenge, including a T-shirt, bibs, a finisher’s medal, and breakfast for all participants, along with other fitness stalls and activities.
Built for Every Kind of Climber
What made this event so exciting?
It welcomed everyone. From hardcore athletes chasing a new challenge to folks simply looking for a fresh way to stay fit. StairOthon was something anyone could take part. Every step was a small win, and the cheers along the way kept everyone moving.
Our Role Behind the Scenes
As the event partner, OM Events had the joy of bringing all the pieces together coordinating logistics, setting up the course, and making sure every climber’s experience was easy and memorable. Watching participants reach the top, sweaty and grinning, made every bit of planning worth it.
Why It Mattered
Being part of this event wasn’t just business for us it was an opportunity to do what we love:
- Full-Scale Event Management: From planning the course layout to managing registrations and on-site coordination, our team handled every matter so participants could focus on the climb.
- Creative Branding & Experience Design: We made sure the venue felt electric with vibrant signage, check-ins, and energy-packed music zones that kept spirits high.
- Safety & Support: We coordinated with venue staff and medical teams to keep every climber safe from the first step to the final high-five.
Our goal has always been to create experiences people remember, and StairOthon was the perfect stage. Seeing people of all ages and abilities gather to conquer something tough reminded us how powerful shared challenges can be.
